The biannual London Fashion Week, which is held in the UK capital every February and September, brought the crème de la crème of fashion industry back to the streets of London 17-21 February 2017. Every season the event brings over 5,000 guests, including press and buyers from over 49 countries, to observe over 80 catwalk shows and presentations.
The highlights of this February’s LFW were definitely the Burberry see-now-buy-now collection, inspired by the late English artist Henry Moore and his sculptures. The show was held in Manett Street in Soho, in the Burberry Makers House, which was open for public for one week after the catwalk show. See the collection here and watch the video from the show below.
Another shows with celebrity filled front rows (and runways that were filled with it-girls of the moment) were some of the highlights of this fashion week. The Italian fashion legend Donatella Versace returned to London with her VERSUS collection this season. The model of the year Gigi Hadid walked the catwalk with her sister Bella Hadid showing the minimalistic collection. See the collection here.
Julien Macdonald is one of the biggest designers in the UK and tickets to this show are like a Golden Ticket to a Chocolate Factory. He is known from his glamorous gowns that have been seen on red carpets around the world, and this season he had created, again, a beautiful collection of sparkly dresses and jumpsuits. A New-Zealand born designer Emilia Wickstead presented her new collection on Saturday after Macdonald. There was definitely a contrast between these two designers, Wickstead’s collection was much more simplistic and girly. Both collections were very minimalistic, with some pop of colour in the mixture. See the collection here.
Temperley London, Mulberry, and TOPSHOP UNIQUE were among other star-studded shows that all were showcased on Sunday, the third day of fashion week. All the collections were very feminine and colourful, perfect for the autumn. See the collections here (Temperley), here (Mulberry) and here (Topshop).

MaryKatrantzou, a Greek designer who completed her fashion studies at the celebrated Central Saint Martins (link), showcased her collection on Sunday as well. You could see her signature style through the collection: full of print, colour and embracing the female body. See the collection here.
Christopher Kane showed his latest collection at Tate Britain on Monday before Burberry. The show, where the singer Katy Perry was sitting on a front row, was very modern and had a neutral colour palette. The designer also included Crocs on the runway, something that he has done in his past few collections. See the collection here.

Overall, most of the shows during LFW were very minimalistic, yet full of colour. This is something to look forward in the autumn when these collections (except Burberry) will arrive at the stores. Burberry’s February Collection is now available in stores and online.
